“The Hidden Secrets Behind DNA Paternity Testing”

“Local Doctor Reveals the Shocking Truth Behind DNA Paternity Testing.”

Find out what many don’t want you to know.

Dear Friend,

You have probably been wondering the truth behind a child. Questions arise such as, “is this our son or daughter?”, “is this grandchild truly our next of kin?”, “if the child is of any relation, will I have to continue child support not knowing if this is truly my child?”…………….or perhaps legal issues that may have an impact on one’s family. The only true way to identify and erase all the doubt in the world if the child is truly related is to have a DNA Paternity Test performed.

There are many ways to identify thru the parent(s) if the child is his or not. As you know already it is clear who the mother of the child is (that should be a no brainer!). The focus here is to identify who the true father can be. In this case we will call him the “alleged father” for now until the true results are conclusive. But what if the alleged father is no longer to be found (missing or deceased)? This is a common question I personally get in our offices from many clients. The beautiful aspect is that our Labs have the capability to not only test the alleged father directly but to test any relative of the alleged father. Now bear with me for a moment, I will give ya run down of whom we may test from the alleged father’s family (now remember this would be the relatives of the alleged father):

  1. alleged father (99% accuracy)
  2. mother or father of the alleged father (grandparents of child) (90% accuracy)
  3. first cousin (niece or nephew of alleged father) (80% accuracy)
  4. brother/sister of alleged father (aunt/uncle of child) (80% accuracy)

in addition………………………………………………

  1. the brother or sister (even the half brother or sister) of the child can be tested to verify blood relationship. (90% accuracy)

You see, there are many choices here!

But that is not the end…………as you already know there are many Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.’S)

These are the most common questions asked to me:

“How accurate are the DNA test results?”

  • DNA paternity testing is very accurate! DNA can be obtained (as stated above) from a variety of specimens and will yield results that indicate either a probability of paternity of paternity greater than 99% (inclusion) or 0% (exclusion).

“What if 2 alleged fathers are related?

  • It is best to test both alleged fathers, especially if they are related, so that one can be excluded. If only 1 alleged father is available, then you must select the ‘extended testing’ additional service. The final report may have additional data and a likelihood ration calculated.

“Is blood more accurate than cheek cells when testing for paternity?

  • No! Cheek cells collected using the “GeneSwab” yields results with the same accuracy as blood samples. Regardless of whether cheek cells or blood cells are used, the DNA is the same!

“How soon after submitting my specimens will I have results?”

  • For paternity tests we will provide a detailed and comprehensive report within 3-5 days after receiving your specimens. Other tests, such as a siblingship analysis, will take longer. Expedited testing is also available.

“How old must the child be to have a paternity test performed?”

  • There are NO age limitations. DNA Paternity Tests can be used on newborns. For prenatal paternity testing, please call me direct @ 310-921-9940.

“What if the alleged father is deceased, can paternity still be established?”

  • Yes! Paternity can still be established by testing other known family members to reconstruct the alleged fathers DNA linage. Relative such as aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings and grandparents can be used to reconstruct family relationships.

Now the next topic on your mind may be………”How is the test done?”

The actual collection procedure is very simple and easy. There is no pain involved. What we do is actually take a CHEEK SAMPLE (3 samples to be exact) from the Child, Alleged father (or relatives) and Mother (optional).

We do not take blood samples due to the fact that the Cheek Cell Samples are equally accurate to Blood Cell Samples!

For the most part the procedure will take minutes out of your day! The lengthy portion of the visit will be the paperwork involved. And keep in mind that ALL RESULTS ARE CONFIDENTIAL!

LEGAL SITUATIONS!

This one topic I can not IGNORE! This situation would definitely involve Child Custody, Child Support, Immigration/Citizenship Purposes, Inheritance and….ummmm…….I think I covered all my bases!

Just to let you know the Collection of Cheek Cells are performed exactly the same fashion! The only difference is we have to obtain a PICTURE of each individual (government picture identification card or we will take a DIGITAL of each of the individual) and on the CHAIN OF CUSTODY forms respective initials and signatures will be authorized by the donors. Simple as that!!!

These results are COURT ADMISSABLE! You will be able to submit the results to a judge to be admitted in any legal situation.

How Much Will this Cost Me?”……………….I bet that is the one major issue that we all want to find out immediately! I will not lie to you or better yet try to hard sell you! These tests are NOT CHEAP~BUT THEN AGAIN THEY ARE NOT EXACTLY THAT EXPENSIVE EITHER! But I do understand that we are all on some type of budget! I will cut straight to the chase……….as you know already not only can we directly perform tests for the Alleged Father and Child but also test any relative of the Alleged Father and Child.

We pride in providing a warm, friendly environment…unlike some of these bigger sterile testing centers.  We provide personal attention in a private confidential manner.

We want you to feel secure and comfortable.  You’ll personally deal with our friendly certified medical staff who will perform the test for you, unlike most testing centers where they’ll have you perform your own test.  We want to provide you with a peace of mind that the test is performed correctly and accurately.

Most large testing centers will treat you like a number…as if you’re waiting in line to renew your drivers license at the local DMV.  We understand that this is an emotional and uncertain time and we want to make this process as quick, easy and uncomplicated as possible.

Don’t be fooled by bigger less friendly testing centers that claim to provide better results…it’s not true.  The truth is we provide the same quality results quickly…just in a more friendly and personable environment.

We are located in the South Bay, we’ll be happy to answer any of your concerns regarding DNA testing.

Thank you.

Respectfully,

Dr. Rommel B. Guinto, D.C., B.S.
